It’s the Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa, allowing Australian businesses to hire skilled overseas workers to fill skill shortages.
The visa can be granted for up to four years, depending on the occupation and agreement terms.
Employers must try to recruit skilled Australians before looking overseas.
Employers must pay at least 20% above the Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT), ensuring earnings are not less than an Australian worker’s for the same role.
Nominees must be employed full-time (38 hours/week), and employers must comply with workplace laws and avoid ‘benching’ practices.
It offers job opportunities, up to four years of employment, potential visa renewal or permanent residency, and valuable international experience.
It helps employers address genuine skill shortages and access skilled overseas workers to fill critical roles.
